Blog v Wiki

Information, in this day and age, can be googled. On google, many websites and platforms like wiki pages and blogs will pop up.. The question is which one would you choose and why should you choose it? Well, it all depends on what you're searching for. Personally, if I want to travel to a specific place, I'd look at a blog because blogs are written informally by people who express their opinions. And in this case, I'd want someone's opinion on a place they've traveled to so I can judge if it's worth the travel or not. If I wanted specific information for, let's say, Kobe Bryant, I'd go look on wiki because wiki is a collaborative platform where people can add content about that person, which would more to be likely factual than opinionated. One thing both blogs and wikis have in common is convergence of people on the internet.
Convergence in today's world is very important; wiki and blogs do a great job of  portraying that by people coming together to add their comments on blogs and their knowledge in wikis. An example of blogging as a way of collaboration is how teachers can connect with students. According to Vijay K. Sharma, a blogger that wrote “Importance of Blogging in Our Daily Life”, she talks about how teachers can connect with students on a personal level and how efficient it is to share new topics for the class. Teachers can leave comments on the students’ blogs as a way of giving feedback or conversing with them. Students are connected everyday on the internet and it’d be a great and fun way to aid in conducting the class.
Wiki is similar to blogs because of convergence. It can also be used for education purposes. According to Serhat Kurt, “Educators and teachers are using Wikis as an effective teaching and learning tool to enhance the learning process. Collaboration is an important part of teaching and learning. And Wikis can facilitate collaboration. Wikis can be used to engage learners in learning with others.” Connecting with peers and people in general has become an increasingly vital thing to learn and hone; using wikis and blogs is a great way to foster that skill.
One thing I’d like to see on wiki is the top foods recommended to eat during a period of exercising. People can add what they know would be most beneficial for the body depending on what your goal is; to gain muscle mass or to lose weight. It’s been very controversial about what types of foods are best for whatever goal you have in exercising and wiki is a great way to finally put an end to the controversy.
